Even with my new vamp powers, in that second I was terrified of the monster I could see in him, the viciousness and rage bubbling just under the surface, desperate to come out. “I’m sorry,” I whispered, giving in to his dominance, like a cat losing a turf war.

Almost as if a switch had been flicked inside of him, he instantly backed away, just a step or two, but it was enough to release my aching body. I sank down the wall, sliding until my knees were up in front of me, making a barrier between us.

He, in turn, sank to his knees in front of me, his face once again contorted with guilt, barely even able to look me in the eye. “I’m the one who should be sorry. I should never have been so weak, never.”

“I don’t understand.”

He raised his eyes to meet mine. “I shouldn’t have turned you. I’ve never done it before and I’d always promised myself that I would never make anyone suffer like...” he tailed off.

“Like what?” I asked.

“Like I have,” he said quietly.

“But why me? Why now?” I demanded.

Tentatively he reached out his hand, closing it over my hands which were laved together at my knees. “Because you were lonely, because you felt like me. I’ve been lonely for so long.”

And in that instant I could see the longing in his face and I could understand why he had done what he had. Moving towards him I touched his cheek. His skin was so white, so pale, so cool beneath my fingers and I stroked it gently, enjoying the feeling, trying to wash away the torment of his face with each caress.

Gerard stood suddenly from the floor, lifting me with him and carried me to the bed, where we lay in each other’s arms. It was hard to believe that just a few hours before I had been willing to give up my life and now I had a new one, lying in the arms of this beautiful creature.

Tis not the best update ever and considering the length of time i've made you wait, it's quite short too. BUT I can smell blood and death and sex and they're all coming shortly (hopefully not with such a big wait again).

“The first few days are always the worst.”

I clutched my stomach as we sped down the dark street. I had never known hunger like this before. It growled inside me like a beast, waiting to escape. I would learn soon enough that that was exactly what it was, but for now all I knew was that I needed blood or I would go insane.

I tried to clear my head from the raging hunger, “But how do I do this? I don’t want to take a life.”

Gerard shook his head, “No, there is no need to take a life. Many do, but we can survive without it, as I have done for centuries. It is possible simply to feed from someone, take enough to cause them no real harm and then let them go.”

“Is that what you would have done to me tonight?” I questioned.

I noticed, once again, that flash of guilt cross his eyes. “I don’t know. I wanted more from you Ariana. Something inside me wanted to devour you. The smell of your skin, the way you felt under my fingers as we stood in that alley, I wanted to rip your throat out and feast on the blood, be commanded by the lust for the first time in forever, lather your blood on my hands."

I stopped walking and stared at him. Now I know it’s wrong, but that was just the hottest thing I’d ever heard and despite the gnawing hunger in my gut, all I wanted in that moment was to feel his cold lips on mine once again. I launched myself at him, our lips clashing violently. It’s funny, I thought, that you could get so much heat from two sets of icy cold lips.
We broke away, gasping for air and from the intensity of our kiss. I could still taste him in my mouth as I ran my tongue over my brand new fangs and watched in delight as he stifled a moan.

“So,” I said, leaning into him, “What now?”
